Barcelona agree deal for Josué Caicedo

Fútbol español

La Liga giants Barcelona have late this week secured an agreement to bring in Josué Caicedo from LDU Quito.

Caicedo, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old attacker who chiefly lines out on the left wing. The 18-year-old has long been considered one of the standout young talents in South America, tipped for a bright future at the top level of the game.

This reputation has given rise to links with a whole host of European clubs, eager to snatch Caicedo up before he explodes onto the world stage.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, one of the starlet’s leading suitors appear to have managed precisely that.

As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barcelona reach verbal agreement to sign 2007-born winger Josué Caicedo from LDU Quito, here we go! Deal in place for Barcelona B team, loan with option to buy that could turn into obligation — fee around €2.5m.’

Caicedo will make his way to Catalunya’s capital over the weeks ahead, before linking up with his new teammates at Barca Atlètic.
